About me

Hey!

I'm a uni student in Sydney, studying medical science and microbiology. I'm especially interested in pathology, infectious disease, and human anatomy. I might post some medicine or microbiology related content here outside of the links page in the blog or something.

Other than medicine and biology, I've always been into computers and programming. Although I'm still not a very good programmer, I have gotten pretty good with python and R to do statistics (both because I like using python and R more and I find it way more readable, and because I kind of just hate using excel) and I've gotten pretty good at writing programs in python (only for the cli for now). I'm pretty sure I've gotten the hang of HTML and CSS by now, so the next step is to learn javascript. I also want to learn another general purpose programming language that isn't interpreted like python such as C for a while now (so far I've only done super basic stuff using C).

I like games (although I haven't been able to play as much recently :/) and music. I'm quite a big fan of msx's music (check out their DOOM stuff) so for fear of sounding like a fanboy I'll stop talking about it here. Perhaps I'll start a music page.

I mainly play TF2 (check out my games page), although the whole bot situation has kind of been ruining matchmaking in AUS servers, although there are a few good community servers left, so maybe you'll find me playing ctf_doublecross some time.

The reason I made this page is because I've never really liked the idea of centralised social media and the trend of removing individual expression from the web, which by it's nature should be a place where we should be as creative as we want. Even within these social media platforms themselves there has been a trend to remove even the bit of self-expression given to us to make everything more sterile. I've always wanted a little place in the web for myself (even though I don't really have any idea what to put here that isn't incessant ramblings) and so when I heard about neocities I got really excited I made a page without even thinking about what I'll put in it. So, I've ended up with this page which I update every now and again when procrastinating assignments and lectures.

There are a lot of very creative people here on neocities who have much better and more interesting pages here so have a look around and if you don't have a page yet consider making one because it's good fun. I'll much rather have a little page up and running than make an easily forgettable page on a big, soulless social media platform. I was on the web just early enough to see how just a few sites have taken everything over. It's sad to see what made the internet so exciting to explore is slowly going away as all the content is being consolidated into just a few sites for companies to licence and sell. So why not try to escape this and in the process learn some new skills while doing it (especially with computer literacy still so low)!
